Every year during the week of George Washington’s birthday,
the National FFA Association celebrates FFA Week. This is a week of advocacy,
fun and service for chapters across the country. Here in Jessamine County, we
had a phenomenal week packed full of FFAmily Fun! The chapter attended Bethel
Christian Church on Sunday, followed by a tasty lunch at Fiesta Mexico. Monday
was a day off, so the members hit the alley for a bowling night at Strike
Zones, which pulled a huge crowd. Tuesday was Muddy Truck and Camo day, showing
how we get down and dirty for our work in agriculture; this was followed by a
movie night at JCTC Tuesday night. Wednesday was Blue and Gold Spirit day, with
a third block meeting, in which the chapter conducted a Harlem Shake video!
Wednesday night was local speaking night in which it was decided who would
advance on to Regional competitions. Thursday was Official Dress day, as we
cooked up a teacher appreciation breakfast that morning, followed by a
community sponsor banquet at lunch. After school Thursday we loosened up and
hit the court for a Fun Night here in the West High gym. The advisors upheld
their name and won the advisor/student 3-on-3 basketball game. Friday was Dress
like an Advisor Day to show our appreciation for the Ag teachers who give so
much, and Saturday we hosted a fundraising cookout at Tractor Supply. Thank you
to all who support the FFA members and our organization. We had a great week
and are super pumped for the remainder of the year!
