December Sports Update

Josh Preston

As the first semester comes to a close, a special excitement builds in anticipation for the coming winter sports season. With several sports already underway, the girls’ basketball team, the boys’ basketball team, and the swim team have all seen action in the past few weeks as the young teams venture into their early seasons:
  • The Colts’ swim team posted good results at the recent Holiday Classic to open their season.
  • The Lady Colts’ basketball team defeated Western Hills 76-72 in a double-overtime thriller at home in their season opener; Ashlee Rose posted a team-high 25 points. West is 2-2 on the young season and the Lady Colts’ next home game will be Tuesday, Dec. 18 at home against Nicholas County at 7:30 p.m.
  • The Colts Men’s Basketball Team fell to Fleming County (5-0) at home in their season opener 77-68. West Jessamine’s Daulton Peters pulled down 11 rebounds, while Will Henderson scored 21 points. Young players also saw some action in the loss - including freshman Siah Holifield.
Since the opening loss, the Colts have righted the ship, winning five of their last six games since the loss to Fleming County and have a current record of 5-2 as of Dec. 11.
Come and support your colts at their next home competition.
